My name is Philipp Girichidis and I am a Postdoc at the Max-Planck-Institute for Astrophysics in Garching near Munich, Germany. My research is mainly theoretical with analytic calculations as well as large-scale numerical simulations. On small sub-parsec scales I investigate the formation of stars and stellar clusters with the following topics:

On larger scales I am currently working on the vertical structure of a gaseous galacitc disk, testing the influence of supernovae, external galactic potential, and magnetic fields on the disk properties.

In a scale-free context I am interested in the processes of turbulent motions in self-gravitating systems and the relation between kinetic, internal, and gravitational energy. I investigate the kinetics and graviational collapse in turbulent boxes with numerical simulations and statistical descriptions like the density PDF.
